Hello!

We are a large, national child/youth serving organization in Canada that uses Dynamics CRM. We've been on the system for a couple of years (Online) and I'm always interested in speaking with others in the NFP space that use the same system.

I'm fortunate to be heading to Convergence next month and would be happy to connect with anyone interested in chatting about the system and their use. Nothing formal or structured and I'm not selling anything, just looking to connect with other people who know the system well and can discuss challenges that come up (either as administrators or users) and how you deal with them.

So, if you're interested, repost to this thread or shoot me a direct email. Even if you aren't going to Convergence and want to chat, feel free to reach out!

Seems to me like that is a basic requirement of most companies. Also having the opportunity move to the next step automatically when the required steps are all marked complete.

So, I'm working through getting the sales process configured.

How do I create a required part of the sales process? I.E. You cannot qualify a lead unless you've verified that their location is in our service area.

For example, Let's say that during the stage of the sales process that moves a Lead to "Qualified" one of our stages is verify credit limit, and we want that to be a required field. 

We do not want to make this required just to put a lead in the system, only when the user is qualifying the lead. So for this reason making at a required field of "Lead" is not right. However, if the try to qualify that lead, they have to check the yes/no box saying that they've verified the customer's credit limit. 

Similarly, "ID Decision Maker" is a "Two Option" field, with the two options being "mark complete" and "complete". Requiring this field should be done only if the task is complete, not just filled in with the "mark complete" value.

I'd like to do this natively using what the system provides, as adding any Javascript handlers disables the new Polaris forms. Since the classic forms don't show the sales process, adding Javascript handlers is not an option.

Ideally you would get these contacts into a grid like with an Advanced Find and then use the Export to Excel option and checking to make the data available for re-import. From there you can edit in Excel and then use the Data Import (Settings -> Data Management -> Imports) feature to update the existing records. 

Since you already have a spreadsheet with the updated data you can copy the updated data to the sheet you exported from CRM or if you are good with Excel perhaps use Vlookups to read data from one sheet and populate the other.

I have about 500 contacts that already exist in my CRM. I have a spreadsheet with updated information for all of the contacts...ie.. phone numbers, city’s, and other form fields that were not included in the initial import. Does anyone know of a way to import the new data from my spreadsheet to my existing contacts in a batch somehow?

Using Workflow To Cancel A Case At Anytime

Hi.  I have built workflow to automate the processing of a case in CRM 2011 On Premise.

I have a field called Case Status which gets updated as the case progresses.  One of the Case Status values is "Cancelled".  I want workflow to cancel the case no matter where it is the resolving of the case if this value is updated to "Cancelled".

I could put a "If statement" before every place the workflow is doing any updating but I wanted to know if there is an easier way.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply. Since this is on a create of an account, there is no preimage. Here is my current code....

When I execute this code, I get a message saying "unsaved updates". When I click on save, the account name is not updated.

We are using CRM 2011 Online. I have a plugin that is attempting to update the account name from the company name in the regarding lead. It executes without an error but the account name doesn't get updated.  The plugin is registered "Post Operation" and has a post image that includes just the account name field. One question I have is, if there is no data in the account name field, is the field part of the attribute list? Here is the code...

I'm trying to edit a chart to use in a dashboard.  I've managed to increase the font size of the label but they are being shortened eg "Incorrect ti...".

Please can someone let me know the xml code I need to edit or add?

Deleting the CRM Tag from the Subject Line in Outlook

I noticed an ealier post that indicated how to remove the CRM tag number in the subject line of emails.  It appears that the answer works for the CRM online component.  I cant seem to find the steps to remove the CRM tag number thru the Outlook version of CRM.

Any ideas?

Workflow: create case from recurring appointment

Hi,

I'm a newby so please be gentle on me... :-)

I had a workflow which used to work before UR12 and is now not working.

Scenario: in our "on premise" CRM 2011 I have a number of recurring appointments in the calendar. Some have an end date, some don't.

I need a workflow which will create a case X days prior to each occurance of the appointment. eg: the appointment is every Friday and I want a case to be created the Monday before.

Before UR12 my workflow was triggered when the appointment was created. The workflow looked for the word "weekly", then waited until 5 days before the appoinhtment, then created the case.

Since UR12, when I create a new recurring appointment, all cases are created immediately (i.e. the "wait until x days before appointment" condition is ignored).

This of course is an issue with recurring appointments which have no end date, because hundreds of cases are created immediately.

Can someone please suggest how to create an effective workflow for this?

And if you can please provide steps as I am new to workflows and still struggle with them...

Hello All,

Our CRM online has reached 80% of its storage limit. so we received warning as below:

"Your organization has reached 80% of its storage limit. When the storage limit is exceeded, people will be unable to add data, such as records, to Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online."

So we need to check database storage usage and when clicking:

Settings > Administration > Subscription Management.

Appeared an error to us as below:

Error

An error has occurred.

Try this action again. If the problem continues, check the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Community for solutions or contact your organization's Microsoft Dynamics CRM Administrator. Finally, you can contact Microsoft Support.
