Hi,

I have a workflow which updates a field on case form which is the lookup of the team. Most of the time this workflow works fine but sometime stuck in the waiting state and never get succeeded. 

I am getting the error message as : The state transition requested is not valid for the current state. Current state: 2, current status: 22, target state: 3.

Question about managing concurrent access to queues

Hi All,

My understanding of queues in dynamics is that what is visible in the queue in the browser isn't updated in real time, but when it is refreshed, and that items are not removed from the queue until they are assigned out of the queue.

This means, I think, that if 2 people were working on 1 queue they could both see the same item in the queue, open the record, and begin filling it in. If the first person had assigned it to themselves, the second person would see an error saying they couldn't save the record when they hit save. If the first person didn't assign it to themselves, they would be overwritten by the second.

Is there a way to make sure users can only open records for editing that have been assigned to them, so that they have to be assigned (and can't be opened by anyone else in the meantime) before they start working on them?

Failing that, are there any other suggestions / good articles on the topic?

Showing Activities from Multiple Entities

Hi there,

I'm trying to update the All Activity view in the Account entity to show not just the activities regarding the account record, but to pull in activities from contacts belonging to the account as well as opportunities belonging to the account.

I'm struggling to work out how to get this to work, the Filter Criteria doesn't seem to work for me.

Newbie question on Outlook to CRM 2015 online - brand new CRM

We've never had a CRM, and have recently installed 2015 CRM online.  We have several users of outlook  (office 365 on their desktops), and  plan to install the CRM outlook client on user's desktops.  We use server-side syncing. 

Naturally, the outlook users have previous emails, meetings, etc with leads, contacts, and accounts we want to track in the CRM.  So, what happens when outlook syncs with the CRM - will all of the previous data go into the CRM?  I've reviewed the filtering - should we set the filters before the first sync to keep very old data from importing.  We don't want to create leads, contacts, or accounts for very old items.

Any advice appreciated. Our roll-out theory is to keep this very simple at the beginning and introduce more complexity going forward.

CRM E-Mail-Router sync issues

Hello Community!

We've got the following environment:

- Exchange 2010 SP3 on premise

- Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015-E-Mail-Router 7.0.0000.0000

- one forwarding mailbox

- Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online 2015 Update (January 2015)

Now the issue:

Our CRM-Users do each have a rule which forwards all incoming mails in attachment to the forwarding mailbox (works fine).

Issue 1: About 3.000 Mails are in the forwarding mailbox in a folder "undeliverable" under inbox.

What is the reason? How can we solve this issue?

Issue 2: The Mails, which are pushed into the CRM are about 10% referenced like they shoud, but 90% of the mails in the CRM don't have a reference and they don't have any relation to anything in the CRM.

Which logic does the CRM-E-Mail-Router follow, when it decides to push a mail into the CRM rather to delete it?

We would really appreciate if someone could give us a hint where we can find a "flowchart" or an explanation of how the E-Mail-Router-logic works.

Tools for plugin dev for CRM 2015?

We are on CRM 2015 Update 1 Online. I want to know the "official" plugin development tools that I should be using to write plugins for this environment.

I am new to writing plugins and started working on CRM 2013 (SDK 2013, Developer Toolkit, VS2012) but we got upgraded to 2015 and nothing works the same anymore! Here's my current status:

- I installed .NET Framework 4.5.2 as told by MS. It now shows in VS when creating a new project.

- I have VS2012 and it has CRM code templates. Is it supported for CRM 2015 dev?

- I have VS2013 which is OK for CRM 2015 dev but it does not have CRM templates. What is the best way to get a CRM 2015 project started in VS2013? Is it OK to open a VS2012 project in VS2013 and start from there?

- SDK 2015 no longer has a Developer Toolkit. All the more reason to need a CRM template!

Thank you in advance for helping and pointing me in the right direction. I am looking for the official/supported way of doing things so that when MS change their mind again, I have to do the least amount of rework. Unlike what happened to me right now!!

Contact import problem: Duplicate lookup reference when contact fullname = account name

I'm importing data into a fresh Dynamics Online instance.

I have a list of contacts to import. I've downloaded the template and pasted my data there so all the column names are correct. I've taken the Company Name column, pasted it into a new spreadsheet, deduped it and imported it as Accounts, so I know that all the lookup values for Company Name exist and exist only once.

When I import my contacts I get a failure on a number of them; "A duplicate lookup reference was found", Column heading Company Name. I've double-checked that these companies only exist once; I've looked at 'All Active Accounts', not just 'My Active Accounts', and I've checked 'Inactive Accounts' (there are none, it's a fresh system).

What I did notice is that all the offending company names exist as contacts. So I have a contact 'Brian Smith' with company 'Brian Smith'. That makes me wonder where Dynamics looks for the Company Name reference. Does it look at both accounts and contact fullnames for a match?

I had a look at the import map ('For Generic Contact and Account Data.xml') but I'm not sure how to interpret the mapping in there. 

In Dynamics 2011 there was an import wizard where you could explicitly link source columns to data fields. In the current Dynamics Online I can't seem to find that wizard.

Has anyone else come across this issue? I've Googled a good bit but all the articles about duplicates describe a different problem.

Any suggestions to work around this issue?

C# UpdateRequest - Updating the status of a record

The following code should update the status of a ServiceAppointment record to closed. Although the code runs with no errors, the status of the record remains as open.

Examples I can find say to use a setting called Status (i.e. oServiceAppointmentZ.Status) but this does not exist and is probably related to older versions of Dynamics CRM. There is another field called StateCode but it is read-only.

Any suggestions?

There is no active transaction. This error is usually caused by custom plug-ins that ignore errors from service calls and continue processing

Hi guys,

Last friday I uploaded a custom plug-in and now my users are telling me that they get the error "There is no active transaction. This error is usually caused by custom plug-ins that ignore errors from service calls and continue processing" every time they try to Qualify a Lead.

I already unregistered the plug-in, but they still cannot Qualify and keep getting the error. How can I check which plug-in/step is causing the issue please?

Missing price list

Hi everybody!

I am working in CRM Online '15, and I am a newer. I have created two price list (one in euro and other in dollar). When I open Opportunity I can see euro price list. I can't see dollar price list, neither lookup box. ( change all the view).

The price list is active. I try to create more price list and they are visible when they are in euros. If they are in dollar, they don't appear

Any idea?

Taking body fields from an email and automatically adding them to crm as a new lead

So i have been working on a temporary solution to add all leads generated from a drupal 7 website to auto create a new record in the CRM under our leads tab.  We are using dynamics 2015. 

Thought process:

1) Have my webform post JSON to a dynamics services page where the data is then interpreted.  Without being able to send credentials this has proven difficult.

2) Have all my webform data send to and external MySQL database where I then create an asp.net service to take the data and automatically create leads incoming.

3) Have the emails send right from the site to a sysadmin account in outlook, have outlook use that email address as a rule and parse data from the body like name,email, phone number, business name, etc. since these are the lead fields we have setup in the CRM. --- Question I have is has anyone done this before?  If so can someone send me decent instructions on setting this up.  Thank you


error missing prvReadNote privilege

I have a few forms for each entity. By defining security roles, I have determined the visibility of each forms for each security roles. the problem is that in the running system, a wrong form is displayed....the error notification is "missing prvReadNote privilege".

Does anybody have an idea?

Adding Price List Items to existing price lists

I have a number or price lists that I need to attach Price List Items to.  Currently, when performing this task in CRM 2015 Online, I would go to Price Lists, Add New Price List Item....this is not efficient with hundreds of items to add to the list.  When looking for import templates and or creating a view that will allow me to upsert price list items I can't find a suitable solution besides adding each item one by one.  Is there a solution?

I'm new to Dynamics CRM and I've been assigned a task to find the source of an problem: when the user clicks on a [Save & Close].  It warns the user that changes have not been saved, which is a nonsensical error to display to a user who clicks [Save & Close].

In my investigation, I open up the form in my web browser and inspect the element for [Save & Close].  I see an attribute in the HTML called "command" whose value appears to be pipe-delimited text.  I'm guessing that this text tells the system what to do when the button is clicked on, but what does it mean and what could it have to do with my issue?

Two issues for CRM Outlook 2015 Client

1) I had a user log out of their CRM for Outlook client while in Outlook and now can't log back in.  They just clicked the log out option not the log out and forget me.  There doesn't seem to be a capability that I can find that allows for the user to log back in.   I had them shut down their Outlook application and reopen and still nothing. 

2) Another user, when trying to use the "Set Regarding" button in CRM for Outlook and choosing "Company" in the drop down in order to search for the company they need, nothing happens.  The drop-down closes and no search box window opens as it normally would. 

Any help is appreciated.

Being new to Microsoft Dynamics CRM, I am browsing the "Web Resources" for a Dynamics system I'm working on.  I see a file called xxx.js listed.  I understand that this is a Javascript file.

How can I find all the places in the Dynamics system where this Javascript is referenced?
